The Future of Supplementation in Europe: A Conversation on Policy and Public Health 🧬🩺
Really energized by our roundtable at the 62nd AESGP Annual Meeting on the value of supplementation and the role of EU policy in supporting self-care!
We had a very open discussion about how to keep people safe while still giving them access to the self-care tools they rely on – from using evidence-based, proportionate approaches to setting nutrient levels across the EU, to recognizing the long safety record of responsible supplement use in Europe and the reality of ‘hidden hunger’ in some groups.
I was pleased to share the panel with Dr. Evelyn Breitweg-Lehmann from the German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, Laura Fernández Celemín, Director General of EUFIC, and Lisa Jamieson, MRCPharm, Pharmacist Consultant at Enucleo Limited. Many thanks as well to AESGP for bringing us together, and to our excellent moderator, Klavdija Kmetič, for guiding such a focused and fair discussion.
It was also great to see former colleagues and friends, a reminder of how strong this community is when we work together! Looking forward to continuing the conversation on how we can make safe, effective self-care options available to more people across Europe!
